I just went to Ameritron's web site, the 811 is about the most basic GG amp there is. The design is a proven, reliable circuit. The amp could be copied from just about any Handbook circa the 60's. On
You need to measure this for forward/reverse resistance, not continuity. This diode acts as a fuse to protect the metering circuit. With no drive applied, you should see no grid current. Also check t
Good deal.....Good job...keep in mind this also is in the B- return line and it needs to "float" above ground to complete the cicuit. Still not needed. ALC was used years ago when most transmitters w
What a great amp.....I could kick myself for ever selling the pair of 813's I built. For you "new" hams, 2 813's in GG with 2200 to 2700 on the plates was hard to beat. They didn't like 15 and they d
I did that once.....after $23,000 worth of fire damage from a direct lightning strike that followed the open wire feeder into the house. Be careful and take precautions. 73 Ed W3NR __________________
Make sure they are both set to the right hex address.....04 and the rig matrix is turned off in the menu in the Omni. Ed W3NR _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTe
Its the 3rd item in the menu ....1st is the baud rate...2nd is the hex address...3rd is the matrix (don't remember what it is called in the menu). Ed W3NR ____________________________________________
Douglas, it makes absolutely no sense to post a digest of the recent messsages. All you are doing is wasting bandwidth. Think before you hit the reply button, we have all seen and read the digest you
Yes, its easy to setup, but you have got to have a way to change the frequency and antenna if needed. Ed W3NR _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com
The audio out is a fixed value, but once you get the sound card gain set, it works well. I use the RF gain as band conditions warrant. Your current setup is all you need for RX. I use a very simple i

I use my Omni6 on RTTY without a problem. Had a 217 and sold it, too narrow. Use LSB and your 500hz filter(s) and you won't have a problem. FSK is fine as long as the 2 xtals are 170Hz apart, any mor
Pins 2-3-5-7 are all that are needed. I use a standard 9 to 25 serial cable on my 6 and have no problems at all. When I had a 5 I had to wire it as a null cable. Without digging out the manual (manue
Thats strange, I only use 2-3-5 and 19200 and all works perfectly. I must have missed the above somewhere. Ed W3NR _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contestin
TT does not use rts/cts....you might be thinking of Kenwood that does. The Omni5 requires a null cable. The Omni6 requires a straight through cable. Pins 2-3-5-7 are all that are needed. The baud rat
