If you are looking for over current protection fuses are the way to go they can clear in 1/2 cycle or less. Circuit breakers are mechanical devices with moving parts, and break the circuit too slowly

Lee its doubtful that anything is wrong with the LED circuit. I would suspect the mic does not have enough output assuming your mic setting is at 100 and the power meter fluctuates under modulation.
