Mark, If you have one of the early serial numbers of the Argosy 525 there was a mod to lower the noise floor which is very effective. It involves replacing a capacitor value which was easy to do and

Richards, I had two of the earlier models of the 715 and made many DX contacts with an Argosy on twenty meters running 50 watts. It made a difference. Just worked another ham in upstate NY this week
