I hung my DVM off the 200uA meter plug and it is completely within specs.  Fully adjustable and it seems to be working.  So it looks like the Korean made 229A meter has failed. I'll have to do some t

Also, I believe most diodes in watt meters are germanium. If they ever failed and were replaced with silicon diodes, that can mess up calibration badly. Carl Moreschi N4PY 121 Little Bell Dr. Hays, N

Thanks for the suggestion Carl.   The original diodes are 1N4148 as indicated on the schematic.  Since these were so plentiful in my spares I replaced the pair of diodes in the 229A circuit before my

Since the meter is implicated, you might investigate if you can open up the meter case and check for bad solder joints, or dust, grit in the meter bearings. You might check with Ten Tec about a repla

I think the meter in the 229 is 200 microamps not 200 milliamps listed the Futurlec meter. Not sure what the basic movement is without the shunt. -Lee WA3FIY _________________________________________

The meter as used in the 238 tuner is a 200 micoramp meter. There is no shunt. I suggest you check with Paul at Tentec Service to obtain a replacement. Plus, it wil have the correct scale. Being one
