The 301 remote tuning knob uses DB25 pins 6 and 8 for the encoder signals. If I run a Y splitter off the Omni 6 DB25 and connect both the 301 and a computer, the 301 stops working. Pins 6 and 8 norma

You really need a special cable where only Send data, receive data and ground to the computer. On a DB25, this is pins 2, 3, and 7 that should be the only ones connected to the computer serial port.

Barry:  What you are describing is not a defect, but a well known fact that you cannot usea serial port to do two jobs.  When you use the serial port for computer control, pins 6 and 8are tied togeth

Barry and all, I'm looking into the same thing. What about using the 1/8" CI-V clone port on the rear as a second serial connection? You could still connect the 301 to the DB25 port. 73 - Fred ______

Yes, that's a good way to go. I'm using the RS232 port for both the Remote Encoder and CAT connection to computer. I used a Y splitter on the DB25 but I just had to make sure that pins 6 and 8 from t
