Hi to all: Picked up an Argonaut 505 and find that it's very unstable and drifts like crazy. If you put slight pressure on the cabinet or even move it, it really sings and changes frequency. I'm usin

Y'all, I just became a new owner of an Argonaut 505, the very first Argonaut and my first Ten Tec rig. It came with the model 210 power supply. I am noticing a 120 Hz hum on the transmitter note on C

Jim, this is a long shot, but perhaps.... Check the output voltage of the 210 and be sure it is high enough. The old Atlas 210x transceiver used to have exactly the same effect if the voltage dropped

How are you monitoring the hum when you transmit? Possibly another receiver in the hamshack? If you are using another receiver near by it may not be real. Some times RF gets into the power supply and

Good suggestions about the 505 hum problems. Another observation, if this is an early production 505, or its power supply, it is well beyond the years that electrolytic cap normal life might be expec

With hum from two power supplies off AC line, one needs to check the electrolytic in both the TT power supply and in the 505. As I recall mine, they are cheap aluminum tubular electrolytics and with

Don't give up on that Argonaut 505. I had mine on 40 SSB yesterday afternoon and talked to a bunch of guys all over New Mexico. My QTH is Sandia Park, near Albuquerque. Jim, W8KGI ___________________
