Clark...I do believe when running SSB that you need to hook up the vox relay output on your rig to the amp's relay input. All you need is one more cable. Give it a try. It worked for me when I ran SS

Clark, It almost sounds like some sort of heat sensor tripped. Once it cools down, it resets and the amp is ready to run again. I've never owned the Herc, so you'll have to dig in the schematics. GL
