In the process of momentarily relocating my Jupiter to another room with a Windows PC (to load the updated OS) I think I may have applied reverse voltage to the power connector ... Arghhh! I was usin
Sorry, but I totally disagree with you. Ten Tec made the power connection 'fool-proof', but didn't make it 'idiot-proof'. Certainly not insinuating that anyone is an idiot, but gosh, if you don't kn
The few Ten Tec schematics I've looked at (the older products before they "dumbed down" the manuals by leaving out lots of interconnection details) show reverse voltage protection in the form of diod
Think you will find a diode at the power input, intended to short the supply if reversed. My Scout schematic shows one and I almost certain my 536 has same. Reverse polarity should take the fuse almo
The human aspect of our hobby is what makes it interesting, we all make mistakes. The only being I know that doesn't make mistakes does not need a ham radio to talk to you! HE does have a sense of hu
Doc, You are certainly not the first person(read HAM) to do this. I know for certain that you will not be the last one either! It probably is something minor like a shorted diode. I would check that
I can tell you that reversing the Omni 6+ power with the radio on or off will only damage the oven for the ref. crystal. By the way, does anyone know how much the TCXO for the 6+ costs and if it elim

My schedule (12+ hours days through Wed.) will keep me from cracking the box to do a sight and smell assessment of the potential damage. I sure appreciate the helpful hints from so many and will repo
Finally have a little time to troubleshoot. No clicking relay, just no response at all. There is no visible damage to anything that I can see on the little circuit board to which the power connector

I have lifted the damaged zener, no effect. I am going to replace the transistor with a 2N2222 per the recommendation of Tentec. Will advise later in the week when I again have a few minutes to work
