I have an Omni V that develops an intermittent noise in the radio.  I can best describe it as a high pitch squeal that completely deflects the S meter to the right and covers up all incoming signals.

Could be the internal relays. Even thought they are sealed air still get in and corrosion occurs. Best is to use it and keep switching bands, antennas, and the sort see if it goes away.  These Omni's

I have never experienced that with my Omni V, but I have run into it in other equipment. It's usually a capacitor that has gone bad, becoming leaky, changing the bias on a circuit, and causing it to
