My Eico 710 GDO has died. No response to changing coils. Dial light comes on when turned on. I have found a users manual but not the building manual. Does anyone have assembly or disassembly instruct

My guess would include a failed tube, probably a 6AF4 UHF tuner triode, or a broken cable if the power supply is separate from the dipper. Getting into the dipper probably requires removing the screw

Jerry, I suspect the tube myself. I have the case off. The GDO is in a subchassis and I started to take it apart but figured if I could find the construction manual, I might save myself some grief. I

The world is starting to look a lot better. I bought a tube from http://www.vacuumtubes.net and I received the tube 2 days later. Installed the tube and got a meter reading. phew! I now have new issu

That brown stuff is probably Pliobond. A rubbery contact adhesive. It holds better than tape. It may still be available, if not go to a car parts store and get a tube of 3M trim adhesive. 73, Jerry,

Jerry. Thanks for the tips. I have a trip to the hardware store in my future. My GDO lives again. I also feel better about my knight-kit tube tester that has a place of honor on the shelf in my shop.

John, If there is room for the tape, I have used tape to glue a plastic window, and it worked very well, and held up. Use good quality tape like 3M, not import Dollar store stuff. -Stuart Rohre K5KVH

The tape I used was the Scotch 3M Magic Tape, cause that was on the reel at hand. Seems to hold up well, and is a bit thicker than import clear tapes. Stuart _________________________________________
