- Of the hundreds of postings I have seen, none mention the full significance of DSP. DSP is a LOT more than filters. CW, SSB, AM etc are all generated by software in the DSP chip. This is really signi

- Excellent summary, Tom, but I do have to take exception to one statement: "Only Kachina, Actually, the Kachina 505DSP was on the market quite some time before the Pegasus, etc. If you are referring t

- True and don't forget the TS-870 which uses DSP for both receive/transmit filtering, tx audio equalization and AGC. Looking at the diagrams, I can't see where TenTec did anything new with the Pegasus

- Steve, Thanks for the reminder about the 870 - I had forgotten about it. I think that the real achievement with the Pegasus was boiling down a DSP transceiver into a package at a competitive price po

- Your are correct - Kachina was first with a full DSP ham rig. I did not write clearly (probably because of my mind) - I meant that Ten Tec was the first to use DSP of any kind in a ham rig back in 19

- Yes the original Omni 6 had DSP and was used a low pass filter to "tone down" the hiss from the IF amplifiers. Prior to that, the Omni 5 used a simple tone control. So that was 1990. About all I can

- No problem here, Tom, and thank you for reminding me that Ten Tec used DSP as long ago as 1990. My first experience came a little after that when I bought a JPS NIR-12 audio DSP unit to use with my I
