All this talk about horizontal fins is quite interesting. But since warmed air rises, it would not appear to me that it would be very hindered by a flat surface, open on 3 sides. No one has mentioned

To wit, I have a 50 amp PSU built and sold by Hewlett-Packard. The fins are horizontal. It would appear that vertical fins would be better in as much as warm air rises as opposed to horizontal fins,
