I agree Steve. If the filter were slightly different as to center frequency although still 2.4 KHz wide and the BFO was slightly down the slope on the lower side then there would be more "low end" to

See, that radio produces 3rd and 5th order distortion products. These sound good musically to the ears. The solid state ones produce 2nd and 4th order products which sound gritty. 73 Bob, K4TAX _____

Yes, one can move the oscillators for USB and LSB a bit further up the slope into the passband and realize a bit more low end response for a bigger and warmer sound. Careful however, carrier suppress
