I dont know how the Triton's receiver would compare to your Omni VI+ but my Corsair II is now up for sale. I think I remember a post that said something as to why the Triton reciever was quieter and

Just a quick comment, the AGC in the Corsair, the "hang" time constant, wasn't very good in my opinion. I imagine that might be half or more of the difference you are hearing. If you can turn the AGC
