You'll need a computer to run the FLEX 1500. See their page http://www.flex-radio.com/Products.aspx?topic=F1.5k_features for details. It could be an older computer. 73, Gary - AB9M __________________

Hi Gary -- Are the directions for this in N4PY's README file? I was holding off on doing this, myself, because I was under some silly impression the modification was difficult and involved soldering

The directions for this are in the N4PY help file for the Pegasus Plus program. Just search for "Using the RX-320, RX-340, Pegasus, or Jupiter with the Omni VII". Carl Moreschi N4PY 121 Little Bell D

I am planning to take the dive and buy an Omni VII.  Any thoughts, advice?   I am the current owner of a Drake TR7 and Kenwood 830S (purchased in '82 by me).  So it's well past time for me to invest

W5BXE, Why not the Eagle? The Eagle looks good for the type of ham you describe yourself as being. And it would go over better with the XYL vs. the cost of the VII. The VII sounds more like a contest

If you do any CW, you'll want the 500Hz & 300 Hz filters. They work well on digital, also unless you want a waterfall with wider bandpass. I'm not a great fan of internal tuners. The used VII I found

I had pretty much decided I wouldn't but the tuner option.  I've got a couple of tuners and I don't mind turning knobs.   The Omni looks like a great radio. I believe I'd be happy with it.   Thanks!

I agree with Dave's comment about the internal ATU. In my opinion, the internal ATU in my Omni VII does not do a good job of matching. My external auto ATU does much better. You will also have to get

Just do it. If you don't need the complexity of the K3 and the fact you can operate it by either computer or by front panel controls, and the audio is so good... and ...and... the receiver is so good

The Omni VII is an excellent choice. One thing to consider; If you ever consider remote operation of the Omni VII then the built in ATU is an asset worth having. I too use an external antenna tuner (
