not, necessarily, encouraging "ultimate stations" -- i.e., get 'em on the band...... Precisely my point. Receive antennas are no longer just the domain of ultimate stations. There's plenty of other o

My Inv-L is tuned at the FP with a homebrew network that I probably didn't even use math to design. The variables and inductor are turned by motors cannibalized from cheap 12V battery-powered drills

Bill (et al), I have a short gamma matched tower for 160. I didn't originally intend to load it during construction, so I ran the other feedlines up the outside of the tower, grounded by bracket at t

Hi all, One of the locals here is very into the JT -modes, almost exclusively on topband. He uses 100W into a single Inv-L with two 1/4-wave radials and nothing for RX. I think he's about halfway to

I represent the under 30 crowd (for another few years at least) who isn't really into JT65, FT8, etc.. I still prefer the "between the ears" -modes. However, I see the JT and other weak signal modes

Bruce, I used to resonate my tower on 80m with 22 ga wire in two directions. Never a problem with power handling at 1.5kW; I probably would have used bigger stuff if I had any in the garage at the ti

I used to run my RBOG over the buried radial field of an 80m Inv-L here some years ago. What I found was that the beverage directionality was absolutely wrecked. To avoid running it over the radials,

Martin, I recall an article somewhere about a gentleman who buried a section of his beverage under a road on his farm. His method was to bury a non-conductive pipe, then run the beverage through it.

Hi Dave, In my [very, very, extremely] limited experiences with any of the JT modes, it has always seemed to me that many are alligators. I think the FT8 craze has inspired a lot of people to get on
