Help - I'm trying to use my 160 dipole on 40 & 80 but I'm unable to tune it to any kind of resonance. It's about 260 feet end to end, center fed with 450 ohm ladder line then to a Nye Viking tuner. W

unable to tune end, center fed Works great on 160 I've already tried without an Hi Dick, The worse multiband length combination is an electrical 1/4 wl feeder or multiple used with a 1/2 wl antenna

This is because on 80m, you have a full wave dipole with many 1000's of ohms drive impedance driven through a half wave line, which puts this same impedance at the tuner. I don't know of any commerc

many line, of Each 1/2 wl antenna half has a driving impedance of about 3500-6000 ohms. There are in series. The result is the tuner has to match 7000-12000 ohms if the feeder is lossless. This is g

I never had any problem with that configuration, although my basic antenna was 1/2 wl on 80, not 160. I used about 60 ft of feedline, and the antenna worked well on 80, 40 and 20. What I liked about
