Is there any way to _calculate_ proper number and heigth of guying for such "Texas Tower" telescope? I am going to build a 55' tall field-day style vertical for 160-80-40m. The vertical gonna consist
try MMANA - it's free you may also try newer one - MMANA-GAL, from DL2KQ - http://www.qslnet.de/member/dl2kq/frm/mmanagalru.zip _______________________________________________ _______________________
yea, G5RV is the good one. I dont know how it works on 30 - i have used it for contesting only - but the rest of the bands are good. the only weirdo is the 15m band - it has relatively high impedance
there are a few things you can do. 1 - use 2-4 wires top hat which is connected through 7MHz LC-filter 2 - put a top hat and use remotely controlled matching network to switch the bands and match ant
i guess you can "borrow" it from any commercial antennna - like Cushcruft or Hustler, whoever makes an antenna for 80-40. _______________________________________________ _____________________________
2 more things: - there are two different "1 dB": one of them is a difference between S9 and s9+1dB which is unnoticable; another one is 1 dB above or below noise... you either hear the DX station (+1
I would take Cushcraft R5/R7 and/or G5RV. You dont even need to be on 4th floor to use G5RV, just ask some tree-climber to help you. 2007/7/11, Keith Dutson <kdutson@sbcglobal.net>: _________________
Check the drawing in attachment, I don't remember who designed it, I just saved the picture from the website. It gonna be sturdier than Hy-Gain, because the bottom 30+ feet are 12' sections of 2", 1
Can you climb it, or, let me rephrase it - what is the lightest tower model you can safely climb up? 2007/10/15, Anthony J. Di Sano <adisano@gmail.com>: ______________________________________________
I am just wondering - If manufacturer (UT in this case) aware that aluminum legs suffer form eggholes sooner or later, why they do not make them with some sort of (stainless)steel ends? They are noth
Hi guys, I just got an 5-BTV vertical which I gonna take to some DX country with me. I need to cut two longest pieces in order to fit it in 48" golf bag case to check it in. Is it enough to use regul
OK, looks like a pipe cutter is the way to go. I was afraid that the cutter used in plumbing fits only one or two sizes of copper pipes they use and it would not cover all the sizes we use for antenn
Thanks guys, I will check the hardware store just in case they have something not listed at their website. I better get something which covers up to 2" in diameter, because most of pipe cutters work
Hi, that's me again with a question very related to the previous one :) I recall a lot of discussions of verticals in this reflector - verticals build out of irrigation pipes or build for permanent i
yeah, you right, it sounds reasonable. I know there are poles made by SpiderBeamers - 12 and 18 meters long. They are quite expensive, but it is not big deal... The other thing worrying me is bandwid
I went to Lowes already and got hacksaw, miter box and reamer. I think it gonna be enough for beginners like me. Thanks everybody. Alex K2BB 2007/12/9, Roger (K8RI) <K8RI-on-TowerTalk@tm.net>: ______
Yeah, that sounds right. What do you guys think about GU4YOX receiving loop - http://www.gu4yox.com/CIMG0500.JPG ? I've listened to it, in VE3NE shack, and was really amazed, especially on 80m. It dr
there is an article (in russian - http://dl2kq.de/ant/3-33.htm) on DL2KQ website with MMANA/NEC2 computer analysis of vertical of various length like 1/8, 1/4 and 5/8 with radials like 1/10, 1/4 and
GMail is smart enough to place "content-sensitive" ads while you read your emails. This time it gave me an ad of "Flagpoles shipped direct" - http://www.aflag.com/sizing.asp they ask $4...7K for 60-8
Is there any good 6m/2m antenna design (or manufactured model) ? I just talked to VA2WDQ a couple of days ago and he talked me into trying the 'world above 30MHz' :) He said he has separate beams for
