1400 lbs is significantly lower than the 3/16' galvanized wire rope sold by McMaster Carr. Their 3/16" is rated at 4200 lb!!! Don't buy that stuff at HD, just go to McMaster-Carr, call them and place
You will need ±63 feet of 3" irrigation pipe. I found a thin wall conduit that fit inside, barely. I had to slit the conduit lengthwise and compress it with a couple of SS hose clamps. It then
Stovepipe tape?? Tacky. Use aluminum pop rivets. I used them and had no problems for the 7 years that my 4 square was up. If you're worried about conductivity between the two adjoining sections, just
Does anyone have a pair of the black plastic insulators that are used on the 204BA or 205BA driven element that they would be willing to part with? Perhaps a source would be good too? Bob W6TR ______
That is not correct. Any wire will work. It is connected to the bottom of the stinger and the sum length of the wire and the aluminum stinger determines the resonance on 75 and 20(where it is a 3/4 w
Thanks for the info Bruce. I just got off the phone and ordered the insulators and some plastic end caps. _______________________________________________ _____________________________________________
The LMR600 crimp on connectors require a .600" hex die and they are expensive and nonobtainium. I have a qty of crimp on N connectors. Let me know if you need some. __________________________________
I think that the K4AVU crimper crimps the section with the little holes against the braid and unlying dielectric. I don't see how that can be a reliable or strong crimp. In fact, it might damage the
Why bother with all that? What's wrong with putting a wattmeter in the line between the amp and the antenna and just tune the amp for full smoke? Or just use your field strength meter located in the
The die set that fits the DMC HX4 crimper is Y1720 for LMR600 using the EZ-600NMH crimp on connectors. They can be bought from DMC for ±$100. I just bought a HX4 crimping tool on eBay for $32
I have them in my 2300 SF home and they make noise. Must be my home is not big enough here in Florida. I had them in my 4500 SF CA home and they were also quiet. Bob W6TR -- Original Message -- From:
Just look in the ARRRRRGHL Antenna Handbook. If you can find a used HyGain 204BA they can be redimensioned to 17 and they work great. Also in the handbook. ___________________________________________

Does anyone have the drawing(s) to construct a base for a Tri-ex TM-370C Sky Needle? I need a copy. Thanks, Bob W6TR _______________________________________________ __________________________________
I believe you are thinking about Frank Clement's 36 element 20M array made up of 6 KLM 6 element Big Sticks on a super Sky Needle tower. The tower that supported that array is for sale. Contact W6RU
Just a long shot but does anyone in the southeast have a base for the TM-370C Tri-ex Sky Needle? Bob W6TR Valrico, FL _______________________________________________ _________________________________
Do what I did. Build a homebrew version of the HyGain HyTower using Rohn 25 and a stinger from a Butternut HF2V. Costs less than a MFJ HyTower and is better. The secret: lots of radials(mine has 80).
SteppIR with 80M coils? Everything else is a compromise? Don't think so. Not as efficient as my homebrew version of the HYGain Hytower which has no coils or traps. ___________________________________
My homebrew HyTower works on 20, 40, and 75 with no extra stingers. That's cuz I made the length of the Rohn 25 exactly what is needed to resonate on the phone section of 40. It also works great on 1
Why not use a run of LMR900 like I did. Most LMR900 is DB which stands for Direct Bury coax. Or you can find some Andrews 7/8" which is also DB. Control lines are another issue and shouldn't be run t
