Boy, I thought I was the only one who had problems with bolt alignment after the pour! I was too embarassed to report it because I thought you all would think I was stupid... I used the plywood templ
I agree with Tom that 60 degrees makes more sense than 45 degrees from the Eastern U.S. I studied this before settling on the orientation of my 40M 4-square. I modified an old BASIC program that comp
Sorry about that, gang. The install wizard for my e-mail software must have just filled in the e-mail address and not the reply address. Some e-mail packages can figure that out for an automatic repl
To those who requested my program for computing the optimium compass orientation for a 4-square array: I just discovered a minor problem with the program. It opens the file CTY.DAT in the directory C
I know I've seen this information somewhere, but I can't remember where (maybe it was here.) For the typical HF Yagi, what orientation to the wind produces the least stress on the beam and tower? In
Hi, folks. I need some help again. Less that a week ago I finished installing my U.S. Tower 72' motorized rotating tubular crankup with TH7. After a number of interesting problems (which I will repor
Yes, tie the two ground systems together with the heaviest gauge wire you can afford. Also, don't put the ground wire in the conduit -- use bare copper or strap and bury it directly in the trench. It
Press -- I suppose it would be correct to say that I am using too much coax around the rotator, but that is because I have a base-rotated tubular crankup tower! The rotator is located at the very bot
After many intense weeks of installation and troubleshooting, I'm happy to report that my new U.S. Tower 72' motorized tubular crankup with rotating base is up, fully operational, and sporting a very
David, Just out of curiosity, why should the 40M beam be mounted *above* the tribander? I have two friends locally who have identical 100' Rohn 45 towers with stacked TH7 and Cushcraft 2-EL 40M beams
It sounds like the switch's relay control voltage is momentarily appearing on the TNC's chassis and/or signal ground when you turn the knob. The change in potential between the supply and ground is p
I would suggest Time Microwave LMR400UF, available from Texas Towers. It has slightly better loss characteristics than 9913, but without the water contamination problems. Much better loss figures tha
Does anyone have a phone number for The RF Connection? I tried asking for a catalog via their e-mail address, but got no response. 73, Dick, WC1M -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/towertalkfaq
It must be the season for planting conduit because mine just went in last week. Although my installation and solutions are rather different from those described by K1VR, I do agree with much of what
Just out of curiosity, what's the opinion on those rubber booties soled by Cushcraft? Couldn't they be used instead of the inner layer of electrical tape? For example, put the bootie over the connect
If it's that hard to pound a ground rod in this "soil", can it really be conductive enough for a useful ground? If there are enough of them, I think your lengths of 1 1/2" strap will do a much better

Generally, this isn't a good idea for long runs with multiple cables. First, it's extremely difficult to keep the cables from twisting around each other, especially when installing sweeps or bends.
I'm not an expert (I just got my MARB 770 Motorized crankup two days ago), but I do know that U.S. Tower sells replacement cable sets. As far as I know, they won't do it for you, but will strong urge
