Yes, it is the one to tilt the tower over. The tower is actually not cranked up so there is not much tension on the cable at all. I can take the winch off the tower easily and safely. _______________
Thanks to all who responded to my call for help. I got it sorted out. Thanks and 73, Guy, N7ZG _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTal
Good point Ian. I used a 3/4" box end wrench to hold the shaft in place and tapped the clutches with a hammer. This freed them up and I was able to get the job done. This may be off base, but in the
I picked up some surplus hardline. It has an OD of 5/8" including a 1/16" plastic jacket. The jacket is black and has a green stipe running up 2 sides of the cable. Any idea of what this stuff is? Sp
The Green Heron controllers do exactly that. They are loaded with other features as well. M2 will sell the P2800 w/o a control box. 73, Guy, N7ZG _______________________________________________ _____
Or perhaps the cheapest option of all. The M2 controller OOTB accepts RS-232 input. A computer becomes the "point and shooter". ;-) 73, Guy, N7ZG _______________________________________________ _____
I recently hired Hank to do the engineering work for my tower permit. I would highly recommend him. 73, Guy, N7ZG _______________________________________________ _____________________________________
I assembled the conduit sections by sliding the sections one by one over the batch of cables. This batch consisted of 2 runs of 1/2" hard line plus a rope messenger. I drilled weep holes on the under
Correction. I've *since* pulled 2 runs of RG-11 and a control cable through. _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list Tow
You can also get 10 conductor #18 500ft spools at Lowes and Home Depot as well. Combine conductors for longer runs. I combine 2 pairs of 4 conductors leaving 2 conductors free for the pulse sense wir
Anyone have any recommendations for mounting a Ham IV atop a 2" mast section. I'm building a standoff mount on one of my towers for a 3 element SteppIR. I've got some 2" angle iron that I'm going to

Hank Lonberg, KR7X is licensed in WA state. He did my permits and I'm very happy with his work. 73, Guy, N7ZG _______________________________________________ _________________________________________
This will be a busy summer for me as I have a number of yagis to get up before the fall season. I don't have alot of experience doing tower work but I did manage to get most of my AB-105 in the air.
I'll go back and re-read Steve. _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting
I have black sheathed Dacron rope for my yagi boom truss guys. Would replacing with Phillystran be wise? 73, Guy, N7ZG _______________________________________________ ________________________________
Any one know what it is? 73, Guy, N7ZG _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.con
I've worked them on 80 a few times from WA. They are loud and hear very well on the 5 el yagi. _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTal
No, it is a completely different design. I have it scaled for 80M with the slope angle changed from 30 to 45 degrees. The F/B is about 10 dbi and gain is about 8. 73, Guy, N7ZG ______________________
There is an engine hoist that goes at 33 fpm. I stripped the cable and used it as a capstan winch. Put up two AB-105 towers and 7 large yagis with just myself and 2 guys on the ground. About $140. 73
