Jerry, I actually liked his technique, except for the Dremel tool cutting the braid. I agree Jerry, I think the average ham would have problems doing it that way :-) I do the braid trimming different
I contacted Hub City (who makes our US Tower reduction gears) and they recommended using a synthetic lube, lasts longer, and the gear box runs cooler. I went to a synthetic lube. It is easy to change
John, I still have some of the old PL-259's with tan colored insulators. And yes they are easy to solder to. Think I will hang on to them :-) 73, Bob K6UJ John KK9A To: towertalk@contesting.com Subje

Roger, I agree 100%. PL-259's are not designed to be a weather proof, water tight connector. We definitely should weather proof them. Even N connectors, with their sealed design, I weather proof them
Kevin, Good points ! Your system looks great. I was doing very similar for years. I have added a final step for sealing the connection I would like to share. Here in Napa Valley there are many wineri
Patrick, Thanks for the info. I have used the self sealing butt splices also. There are many different ways to weather proof and in this case completely water proof our connectors. We have touched on
this thread is very educational ! Butyl tape wrap looks to be the technique of choice for pro installations. Bob K6UJ John KK9A To: Bob K6UJ <k6uj@pacbell.net>, towertalk@contesting.com Subject: Re:
