Try both; experiments are cheap. You can build both of this for maybe 50 dollars for both of them. I've never done the G5RV "junior"; results could be interesting. I think on the whole the fan dipole

I have used a regular balun, rather than choke beads, with success on a full sized G5RV. You can read up on the theory of it; it's all over the internet. This is not a new design after all. I don't k

One way of dealing with 15 is to just use an antenna tuner which basically reuses the 40m dipole as a 3/2 wavelength antenna. You then just do 40/20/10 and have only three lines to worry about. You d

As far as testing goes, one way of getting real world answers is to use ReverseBeacon.net and see what you get from various stations as far as dB ratings go. Maybe over several days if you can. I've

Simple math says 3 inches is 1/4 of a foot. 1/4 of a foot divided into 40 feet is 0.00625 or a shade over half a per cent. Now, I am not an engineer and I haven't calculated the stresses involved. Bu

I got a private note indicating some real-world problems (holes in the pipe) when Cadwelding Rohn towers on at least some occassions. So, for the record, it doesn't look like a great idea to Cadweld.
