I wrapped the coax for my 1/4 wave slopers thru 6 toroids. The bundle hangs so it touches the tower. Zat OK? 73, Mike NF4L _______________________________________________ ____________________________
Thanks Roger. Yeah 75 & 160 slopers, common feed. The tower is a 72' crank-up. We'll see how it plays. 73, Mike _______________________________________________ _______________________________________
Thanks, Joe. 3 of the lines go to a switch on the tower. Would a choke on the single line from the switch to the shack be sufficient? Mike _______________________________________________ ____________
My electrician (who specializes in grounding) says he hasn't used Cadwelds in many years. He uses what he described as a wedge, which once set cannot be loosened. I'll see what it looks like today. 7
I have a new g-1000DXA, and cant get it pointing correctly. Turning it completely CCW, I have the pointer on 180º. The calibration marks are about 40º apart. Going CW from 180: Controller Rotor 270 2

If there's a pet store handy, they should have a non acetic acid aquarium sealant. Auto supply stores sell a similar (or maybe the same) material as a gasket maker. The big box stores may even carry
Mine was blue. I dunno what the difference is. I'm no chemist, but seems like it'd be OK. Put a dab on something and let it cure then check it for adhesion and flexibility. What are you sealing? 73 M

I made a hinged mount that lets the yagi come to the ground horizontally. They're also available commercially. Google is your friend. Blocking at the bottom may not catch an inner section. Mike NF4L
It's not too difficult to bend your own out of all-thread rod. Use a long piece and cut the legs to the proper length after you get the shape right. Mike NF4L ________________________________________
So now that that trivia has about played out, how about a really important clash: Balun vs. balum. 73, Mike NF4L _______________________________________________ ______________________________________
The electrician I had (who does a LOT of grounding work here) come out to connect my tower ground to the service ground told me he would be glad to drive the extra rods extending out from the tower,
The guy who dug and poured the base for my tower used a length of steel culvert (4' dia x 10' len) as a form. He covered one end with a piece of plywood, stood it up in the well the hole had turned i
I think the confusion exists because we insist on calling too many things "ground". To me, ground is earth. In electrical circuits (AC,DC,RF) there is return. I doubt the world is gonna adapt my view
I had a math professor who tried explain the concept of a signed zero to me. He couldn't, but I'm sure it was my failure and not his. He also claimed to be able to add two feet to infinity. 73, Mike
No, but it does make my hair hurt..... Mike NF4L _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http:/
My electrician (who is regarded as a grounding expert here) told me the extra ground rods would add absolutely nothing to the protection provided by the Ufer ground of the base. OTOH having the rods
Can it be put thru the side without cutting a brace? Mike NF4L _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contest
I immediately conjured up an image of a MonstIR floating 100 feet above the ground, with no visible support. Unsettling....hihi 73, Mike NF4L _______________________________________________ _________
