I've always put the elements on top of the boom. No particular reason, I just thought if the elements are on top then the boom itself fully supports the weight of the elements and the element to boom

I put a PL-259 to PL-259 splice at the tower base, then clamp a copper ground strap around the splice and tie the ground strap to the tower base and ground system. Right AFTER the grounding point on

Lee, the best antenna I've ever used for that type of thing was a 3 element wire beam pointed straight up. it was a 40 meter dipole at 30 feet with the reflector at 10 feet and the director at 45 fee
