Hi all, This is a desperate plea for help from Northern NJ. I need to get a major cadweld-grounding project completed, and as events of this weekend have proven, this is not a task neither I nor my x
Sounds like the molten metal is running out the holes around the wires or around the ground rod if it doesn't fit tightly. You can pack it with sand to prevent this. The trenching can be difficult if
Peter, You couldn't find a better professional in your area than W2GD. John has done much work on my 200 foot towers and he could resolve your unexpected problems quickly and easily. w2gd@hotmail.com
Peter: Jerry speaks the truth. A rented trencher, like a Ditchwitch, would make short work of your trenching project. I dug trenches for my grounding wires and for my conduit system in one day with a
When I put in a ground system like this I only put the cables about 3 to 6 inches down so I don't need any trencher although after slitting a few hundred feet of sod in clay one begins to sound pret
Folks: For whatever they are worth, here are some pictures of a cell site ground system under construction near N6IJ. There may be clues to cadweld tecniques within the close up images of the Cadweld

..."I've never heard of electrician's putty. Is it something that the brain-fried clerks in HD could point me to? "... Nope, tried that, but a good clerk will know about it. I think the stuff your ar
It's something that happens easily and is sometimes a bit difficult to spot. I have a pair of "cable cutters" that give a very nice cut, but don't show well in those photos. There have been several
Actually, the stuff you need to seal cadwelds is made by cadweld and is called "Mold Sealer" part # T-403. It's a heavy putty that doesn't allow molten metal to flow outside the mold. Don B. W6DRB __
