Why do you feel the need to "take it apart"? Does it rotate the antenna? The brake on a Hy-Gain rotor is very loud. It's a large AC operated solenoid that pulls the brake wedge away from the braking

Exactly, all Yaesu rotators have planetary gears. Create rotators are rotators with worm gears and there for make no noise. I have and still use Create rotors in my tower to turn HF beams with booms
