What would be wrong with just drilling a hole through the mast and installing some 3/4" stainless steel all thread rod through the mast say every 8" or so. Then screw on two nuts on each side (one as

I don't think that is a good idea to be drilling holes in your mast for steps. Best to lower the mast through the tower. Yes its more work but you will live to talk about it. Jack KZ4USA Bradenton, F
