Don't drop any guys ... put up another one nearby to one of the top guys .... then use those two as a TRAMWAY to haul the antenna to the top of your tower! 73 Don N8DE _______________________________

I usually use a tram line for putting up the antennas but I have a bigger antenna (4el 40M) that will be awkward at best with a tram line to put up this time. I may still have to do the install with

I agree with Don, but how big are the antennas. I put up a 30' long 7L 6 meter Yagi, a TH-5 tribander, and a cross boom ((bout 16') with a pair of 12L for 144 and a pair of 11L for 440. I just took t

Hi Larry, An alternative for a BIG antenna could be to build it up in the tower. I have done this three times now, with 3 element full-size 40 meter yagis. By lifting the boom and the elements one by

I've posted before on this one. I don't know how tall the tower is or what kind it is. If it is Rohn 55...I've dropped the two lower sets of guys on 200 footers (80 and 40 ft) at the same time and si

The tower (100 feet) had a 2 el 40M, 80M rotatable dipole, and KT36XA (top to bottom) on it. All were pulled up a tram line one at a time. The KT36XA and 40M were damaged by a tornado this past sprin

I have heard of a couple of people assemble antennas on the tower over the years. I would have think about that some because it seems like that could be very awkward to build it on the tower. The ant

I agree with Roger, the simplest way to get a BIG antenna to the top of the tower is either a crane or in pieces. At K4VX there are PVRC mounts on the top of every tower to allow the boom to pivot fo

The short version: IT's not all that difficult (relatively speaking) as the boom is pivoted at the top of the tower so it's vertical part of the time which allows one person at the top of the tower a

Actually 80 feet of Rohn 55 without an antenna is fine without guying on a calm day, provided there is a base built to Rohn specs. I've picked 80 and 90 footers, set them on tower sections with no pr
