- I'm running ropes on a capstan winch. The capstan is getting polished a bit. Anyone have a recommendation on some sort of adhesive and/or friction enhancing spray? Thanks in advance and 73, Guy, N7ZG

- You don't want a capstan sticky, that would prevent it from slipping when you wanted it to. The tricky part of a capstan is that it keeps turning but you stop the load by letting the rope slip around

- A problem can occur with new ropes that have residual weaving/spinning lubricants in them. This can be washed out. A lot also depends on the rope material, construction, hardness of the lay, etc. Sai

- Guy, Maybe I'm all wet but you can get spray belt dressing for auto fan belts that have gotten glazed and squeal. I wonder if this spray on the capstan would help. Just thinking............. Bob K6UJ
