I'm running ropes on a capstan winch. The capstan is getting polished a bit. Anyone have a recommendation on some sort of adhesive and/or friction enhancing spray? Thanks in advance and 73, Guy, N7ZG

You don't want a capstan sticky, that would prevent it from slipping when you wanted it to. The tricky part of a capstan is that it keeps turning but you stop the load by letting the rope slip around

A problem can occur with new ropes that have residual weaving/spinning lubricants in them. This can be washed out. A lot also depends on the rope material, construction, hardness of the lay, etc. Sai

Guy, Maybe I'm all wet but you can get spray belt dressing for auto fan belts that have gotten glazed and squeal. I wonder if this spray on the capstan would help. Just thinking............. Bob K6UJ
