Be careful--keep hanging on to the winch handle as the winch is capable of getting into a free run (down comes the tower) mode. What do you mean "...is frozen:? Normal operation is to crank the winch

This is a tough situation. You could "lubricate" the clutch pack but risk that they will not hold. I recommend using a Klein Grip with an anchor to prevent the tower from collapsing. This will allow

I would use cable clamps and a piece of cable to secure the winch cable, then disassemble the winch, unseize the clutch packs with a hammer/screwdriver/chisel, reassemble the winch, and you should be

Yes, it is the one to tilt the tower over. The tower is actually not cranked up so there is not much tension on the cable at all. I can take the winch off the tower easily and safely. _______________

Good point Ian. I used a 3/4" box end wrench to hold the shaft in place and tapped the clutches with a hammer. This freed them up and I was able to get the job done. This may be off base, but in the
