Yes, the water method works very good here in the heavy clay soils of north Texas. Well described, and the easiest way to do it! (Usually have to sledge-hammer the last foot or two in.) Dave N&Oslash

The water in the hole works in southern Mississippi clay too. I did not use a hammer at any point. Thought I was going to loose the rod a couple times because it fell so quickly. kkc in ms __________
