- I am looking for the 'best' PL-259 type of connector for LMR-400 co-ax. The crimp on connectors I have tried have not worked well at all, and yes I have the crimp tool. Would appreciate some advice.

- Bill: Not to be a wise guy, but PL-259s work just fine. You must be looking for Crimps, however. First, watch out for the imported "gold pin, silver plated Teflon" solder on PL-259 style connectors--

- Bill: if you have the tool , use other connector , like N I will not recomend use pl259 in RG 8 size cable like the lm-400 or any other .405 diameter, crimp excelent in rg-58 rx-8x or .3 but not the

- I'm curious what 'not worked well' actually means. I use miles of LMR-400, though mostly use "N" connectors, I carry PL-259 crimp, PL-259 solder and SO-239 crimp connectors and use those when needed
