I just thought of something on the stainless steel guys. If we use the old galvanized thimble eyes or metal grommets (not sure what the correct term is) that go at each end of the guy to keep it from

Hey Jim: Marine supply stores carry stainless steel thimbles (the teardrop shaped gizzies) for sailboat rigging; if that makes you more comfortable. 73 Pete K4LDR in Citrus County, FL on the Gulf of

Hi Jim, I wish everyone went down to the library and got a copy of the Galvanic Series. This was discussed at length in a post earlier this year. Yes, there is a potential problem. It will be difficu

Here is another thought on this: If you are considering stainless thimbles, I would say you need to consider stainless wire rope clips (cable clamps) too. And then, what about stainless turnbuckles?

Hi Stan, Yep! Your logic is correct. Unfortunately, there's no free lunch! The use of stainless pullup cable solves the corroding cable problem, but creates a galvanic corrosion problem at the connec

I am confused. I thought stainless steel did not cause any kind of galvanic action. That is if you use a stainless steel part attached to say something that is copper or galvanized steel you will nev

There are really TWO separate issues at stake here. One of them involves mechanical weakening of the system due to corrosion and the other involves the possible formation of rectifying diodes that ca
