The T-post puller that Joe suggests is a great approach. You'll need to figure out a choker or some other connection to the hook that would normally hook onto the T-post. If you set up a choker (a wi

Pete: I'd recommend you use the car jack once again, but this time wrap a couple of turns of heavy chain around the rod underneath the vice grips and loop the chain over the jack's hook. Put wood pla

I saw a backhoe pull out a stubborn ground rod and it came out shaped like a giant corkscrew. It wasn't much good after that. -de John NI0K Gene Smar via TowerTalk wrote on 3/30/2021 11:35 AM: Pete:

Here in FL near the beach, we don't have to remove them, they disintegrate from the saltwater bath.  After 5 ish years an 8 foot rod is only 3 feet long and pull out easily. I do have to replace them

Chuck up the rod in the same hammer drill used for installation.  Run it briefly as though going deeper in.  That loosens the holding power of corrosion etc.  Next, use a T post puller or clamp viseg

Pete, I've never pulled out a ground rod, but I've pulled stubborn trees with what I would call a "Jack-All" (Farmers jack, 4x4 Off Roaders Jack) You see them strapped to oversized Jeeps & other SUV'

Ive been doing this for years for work applications. I use vice grips or a pipe wrench, depending on rod thickness, and a hydraulic automotive jack sitting on an 8 long 2x6. Sometimes using 2 pipe wr

This method is what I use and it works FB. Keep in mind that once the rod is halfway out, it gets a lot easier and eventually you can pull it by hand. Only use copper clad rods. The galvanized ones d
