I recently tried the firmware update from the Rigexpert website and ended up with a disaster. The firmware update failed and now when I turn the unit on, the screen is nothing but hex trash. I tried

I have an AA-54 analyzer and would like to upgraded the firmware. Is there any reason I cannot do it myself? I realize that Ken had problems but is this typical? Ray, N6VR/W7YA ______________________

Hello Ray You should be able to upgrade the firmware with no trouble. Something went wrong during the process of upgrading with WA8JXM and that caused the unit to fail. I am not sure what happened. 7

Hello Elliot: The person that WA8JXM spoke to at DX Engineering did confirm that the unit failed during the upgrade and told him that the unit would have to be sent to the Ukraine to get it repaired.
