As a sailor, I found Sailflow to be very useful as well, for both predicting wind conditions as well as a local recent history. With luck, you can find a local reporting station close to your QTH. ht

Ventusky.com is similar, except it allows you to see wind speed at various heights above ground.  It's kind of cool to look at the jet stream at 30,000 feet.  ;) Both let you also see predicted tempe
