Wondering if anyone has found a beefy 400 to 500 ohm Beverage resistor that can handle some nearby lighting strikes?  Or at least one that can hold up a good deal better than the average.  Even the 4

Hello Dick, Many Beverage systems are using a series one amp fuse (between the Beverage and the resistor) to protect the non-inductive DXE resistor 73 Tim K3LR Wondering if anyone has found a beefy 4

Dick, I have a total of 25 Beverage wires in the field currently. I used to use the Ohmite ceramics, but now all termination resistors have a Gas Discharge tube across them. Now, almost any decent re

I wonder if a gas discharge tube of the correct value in parallel with the resistor would work?73,Gary K9GS -- Original message --From: Tim Duffy <k3lr@k3lr.com> Date: 4/16/23 3:19 PM (GMT-05:00) To:

I got tired of losing terminating resistors and the matching transformers at the feed, so I place low voltage gas discharge tube between the Beverage wire and the ground rod, at each end of the anten

I wonder if a ball gap around the resistor has been tried, or a static drain choke to ground at the antenna side of the resistor or both? Rob K5UJ _______________________________________________ ____

I used a NE-2 neon bulb for this in my early days.  Not sure if you can still find them or not.  I could see it flash occasionally during thunderstorms. Chuck K9LC Rob K5UJ __________________________

I would bet a lot of money that those gas discharge tubes (which sell for all of 70 cents in unit quantities) would be more dependable than a ball gap. But yes,  a drain choke would bleed off DC volt
