McMaster Carr has a variety of fiberglass rods in various grades. May be able to find stuff cheaper elsewhere. do you need a solid rod, or is a tube ok? Does it need to be fiberglass? Would phenolic/

One vertical is made of 3 and 4" aluminum tubing. It is 1/4 wave on 80m. The other plan is for a 1/4 wave on 160, made of either Rohn 25 or 45, preferably the latter. I like the old Lapp style tower

I went through a similar search several years ago. Then I talked to a local ham here who had an insulated vertical. He recommended buying fiberglass rod about a 1/2" larger in diameter than the inner

Back in the 70's when I first got my ticket, Bob Kastle - K4TQW had a vertical fashioned from tower that utilized three six ounce Coke bottles for leg insulators. They were each filled with cement. W
