Planning to install 150' of 1" hardline on Rohn 45. What type of hardware should I consider to attach the cable to the tower and what is the recommended spacing? Thanks in advance. Tom Bernie, K0TB.

The best way to take the weight of the cable is to use a Kellem grip at the top. This is a SS device that's used on all commercial tower cable runs. Commercial specs also call for a grip every 100 fe

Hi Tom: I'm sure you'll get the Kellum Grip pitch, but that's a poor method of properly dressing transline on a tower. The proper way is to buy the standard coaxial cable hangers that can be bought f

Hi everyone, For all of the heliax that I have helped install, we used the Andrew cable hangers. We use them on half inch LDF450, clear up to waveguide. They have survived some pretty awesome mountai

I'm talking hoisting grips and you're talking hangers. I've installed miles of commercial cables and always used hoisting grips. For ham applications, I don't see any problem with using Kellem grips

Hi Steve: Well - you have the correct desription. The Kellums are hoisting grips. They are a great way to pull the transline up the tower. But - proper dressing requires the cable to be supported eve

I've been doing a lot of site construction for the three PCS companies around Detroit. The standard (here anyway) is a hoisting grip at the top, and another in the middle if over 200' of vertical run

I don't think I have ever seen just hoisting grips used to support a cable on a tower, in this area it's either UV tyraps, band-its, wire ties, or hanger kits. The recommended cable spacing is 3' pe

Using just a hoisting grip at the top of the cable run may be ok for inside a monopole, but don't try it where the cable is subjected to outside elements, just the wind whipping the cable against the

That's right. I never inferred otherwise. I guess I misinterpreted the original post. With the wieght of a 1 inch hardline, you need the hoisting grip to haul it up the tower as well as hang the weig
