Dick, I ran some simulations. There is very heavy coupling to the tower. That's not such a bad thing. The tower current is 180 out-of-phase with the inverted-L current. The GND return current is the

Interaction with the tower has nothing to do with tieing into the tower ground but coupling between the actual inv L and the tower itself.  See my previous post on how to deal with this.   73, Jeff W
