Simple J-pole antennas made out of half-inch copper pipe are frequently seen at hamfests and I think there may be one or two places you can order them by mail. Simple, sturdy, bullet-proof antennas.

Hi Dick. Cushcraft and probably others make quarter-wave ground plane antennas (single-band), very simple. And there is the Ringo Ranger verticals, also by cushcraft. Any of these can be side mounded
