My first comment will actually be a question, what would the rational be for banning 144200 during a contest? With so little 2 SSB activity in many parts of the country (and sometimes down here in FL
George W1LVL is right, if we don't use .200 then come contest time we'll have very few if any log entries. Alex, we have the same problem here in EL99 with FM repeater activity, there is NONE! 2mtr
I might be sending some time in the Eastern MD area and was wondering if there are any weak sig people in that area? Currently for the weekend I'm here mobile on 144200. Would like to know if there i
I agree 100% with Les's observations. And would like to add that if we are to lower the score for contacts made with WSJT since its "easier" then I think a bonus should be given for CW contacts. In n
I've made many MS WSJT contacts however about 25% of mine were not pre-arranged but random. Try tuning to 144.140 and call CQ U4 (example: CQ KI4FIA U4), put your rig in SPLIT mode and listen to 144
I don't know what the record for SSB on 2mtrs is but my personal best is working W5WRL in DM82 from EL99 (1276 miles). Was running 100 watts and a 6 element yagi at only 20'. My personal best on 432S
Hello all and good luck in the contest this weekend. I will try to be QRV on 50MHz, 144MHz, 432MHz and 1296MHz. However starting Friday morning an FPL pole in front of my house started producing +20d
If LoTW was easier to use I would be in favor of this. However I no longer use LoTW due to the complex security involved. I usually buy a new computer every 1 to 2 years. After having LoTW installed
The high point of the contest was working T43S (Cuba) on 144.200 CW Sunday. Does anyone have the QSL info on T43S? Not listed in QRZ and I'm pretty sure I copied the callsign correct. Thanks George -
Why I have given up the hobby, maybe some people can learn from those who hung-it-up before there is no one left to turn off the lights...... Many of you know or have worked me in the contests (KI4FI
Actually I did JT65 and FSK441 on 2 meters and made a far number of Meteor Scatter Q's on 2m FSK and a few 2m JT65 EME Q's Also I had high power on 2 meters, running nearly 350 watts from a Tokyo HyP
I agree with this part 100%. I have the card VUCC on 6 meters (actually I'm at 250 grids confirmed) and I have 111 grids confirmed on 2 meters. I never sent in the paper work for VUCC. 1 reason is it
When I was active I did a fair amount of Satellite work, but here again, we're loosing more satellites than we're gaining. I believe we're down to only 2 working SSB/CW satellites and 1 is older than
When I go to the amsat page (the one I found on Google) I click on Satellite Info, then Current Status. Then I clicked on AO-7, UO-11, RS-15, LO-19, FO-20. All came up with the Page Not Found error.
Don't get me wrong, I loved every bit of VHF+ SSB/CW (never cared for FM). But it like eating a good potato chip, you can't stop at just 1 QSO. When I first started (2005) and for the first several y
For SDR equipment, there is another interesting 1 that recently hit the market (and I believe it was designed here in America). The HackRF ONE, not only is it an SDR receiver it also a transmitter! W
