Inverters are hash generators. I hate them for that reason. I have also decided that a generator would work out best, and I got this way cool 1K generator, perfect for a rover, from Menard's on sale
I BUILT THAT! That is just too funny. It was in an old Popular Science decades ago. Loud as heck, especially since I used an old engine from a weed whacker. You need a regulator and some other stuff
Depends, good or cheap? For cheap I use the one from DC Ace, it's about $40something. It works well to the 440 band. However, I would not keep it in line because it has issues with power > 100 watts
You ought to see my IC706 freak out when I park under the water tower the Village uses as a transmitter tower :) Filters work great. Joe Serocki, N9IFG www.welcars.org www.stonedmonkey.org www.tke-nu
I personally want to thank all stations who worked W9WLC tonight. You might not realize it, but it was a van load of Boy Scouts, each taking their turn at the mike making contacts. A bit on the chaot
For all who seriously operate portable, check this out! Great condition, I just don't use it, considering outright sale or trade for Kenwood TH-F6A. http://home.comcast.net/~joeserocki/rovertrailer/r

This is a fantastic contest rover, she has seen a lot of Wisconsin and Illinois and performs wonderfully! Antennas include HF vertical, 2m, 220, 432 beams, and rotor! Radios are IC-706-MKIIG and Alin
Come on they are great amps! They work at rated power in a perfect load for at least a 25% duty cycle :) Seriously, I have ran one on the IRLP node for a while, trying to save the finals in the trans
On the same note, let's all talk power supplies. I have used many, but Pyramid seems to be very popular. I have had a couple, and they all used 2N3055's as the finals. However, they are set up in par

Ladies and Gents I am looking for recommendations for antennas for Rovers. I like the stuff from Bill Olsen for the lower bands, but he does not do 33cm and up, and I am in need.. I am not sure about
I agree with these guys. Hey, can someone look over these pix and offer any suggestions? I have to pull a trailer with a 5k generator on it, that small one under the tub won't even power one rig much
I was thinking of the batteries, not sure yet. That power supply does well and the generator on the trailer is pretty unobtrusive. The rigs are not picky but work better on 14 vs 12 volts for sure! T
This has really gone too far. Far be it from me to run from controversy, I am the guy who totally pissed off a lot of people last year about FD site classification issues. However, the three groups t
