I was told many years ago that doubling the height was always worth while. The question is increasing by 5 ft really doubling the height since the true height is above ground and not above the roof??
I will be operating on 2m and 432 single operator low power at 17' ASL. David _______________________________________________ VHFcontesting mailing list VHFcontesting@contesting.com http://lists.cont
If the VHF-DX program doesn't work anymore then I will not send in any more logs. I learned how to use it, is simple and I see no reason why the ARRL needs to change their program so it doesn't work.
Thanks Ned, but it just isn't worth the trouble. I have been a faithful VHF contester having only missed one ARRL contest in over a decade. I almost stopped contesting when the Cabrillo requirements
Steve, It appears that ARRL is not thinking clearly. When changing from A to 50, B to 144 etc. there are more characters the used which, IMHO, complicates the program, not simplifies it. Seems like i
Thanks Kevin, The computer programmers and computer whizzes see little problem here. Since I am neither, I have problems. One of the other most asinine rules the ARRL has on log submission, IMHO, is
I down loaded the Rover Log and it is much too complex for me. Does to many things I am not interested in. Logging a QSO is not straight forward. Get too many error messages. Downloaded CT. It doesn'
Bill, Good news, I figured out how to modify the VHF-DX Cabrillo file where the robot accepted it. I also found another easy logging program that appears to be as simple as the VHF-DX and perhaps I w
The best sprint I have experienced in a decade. Sprints never have been good for me so any activity is an improvement. But still not worth the time to send in the log. 19 QSO's 9 Grids David KE4YYD E
I will be operating single operator low power primarily on 2m but limited capability on 6m and 432 cm. Schedules welcome. Good luck everybody. David Hinton KE4YYD ____________________________________
Jim, I have been VHF contesting for a little over a decade now with primary interest on 2m with a smidgen of 6m and 432. I know with my low power and lack of bands I have little hope of winning anyth

Jim, Thanks for being involved in contesting needs/concerns. I don't think abolishing the use of 144.2 or 146.520 is useful to contesting, however their use could be better. I propose that those freq
I have some (150'???) of Heliax that came from a cellular tower that was dismantled. I had 4 connectors but not sure what happened to them. Not sure of the size but this stuff is really big. It measu

I would suggest 4 element horizontal yagis pointed in the key direction would serve your purpose better. I have several 4 element yagi arrays on the side of my tower plus some omni directional arrays
I believe distance should be calculated into scores. CW is proven to be the long distance mode so no need to give extra credit for both. I believe extra points for the higher bands is non productive
