Can anyone comment on how good the TS-2000X is for VHF/UHF contesting? How would you compare it to the FT-847? How about a good HF rig and a bunch of transverters and amplifiers. Clearly, the TS-2000

I'm planning to do some rover operations and need a power inverter to run my laptop. I could use advice on selecting a power inverter that won't generate large amounts of RFI. Any advice? ___________

Thanks for the advice. I'll go the DC/DC route. Why didn't I think of that? -- Don't even think about using an a 120 volt AC inverter to power your laptop's 120 vac power supply (either external or i

Anyone know where I can find a 6 meter amp that will take a 5W input (from an FT-817) and give an output of 50 or 60 watts? _______________________________________________ VHFcontesting mailing list

Mirage makes a 6 meter amp that will take 10W in and give you about 150W out. I'm not sure what the Mirage will put out with a 5W input. You may want to try that one. I am looking for something that

eHam reviews of the Mirage amp are pretty bad. I'd be a bit concerned about spending $400.00 on an amp with that many bad reviews. Anyone have positive things to say about the Mirage amp? ___________

I currently use an FT-817 as the IF for my DB6NT 10GHz transverter. I bought the FT-817 just for this purpose because I was told that some "full power" rigs (like the FT-100D) put out too much power
