Just my opinion, but I feel that it may be Field Day that pulls down participation in the June VHF Contest. It is simply too hard for "most" hams to do both the June VHF Contest and Field Day as well

Did anyone else notice that the lowest 3 HF totals corresponded to the highest 3 VHF totals. They also occurred during the bottom of the sunspot cycle. Probably not just a coincidence. 73s John NE0P
