I think many put "/R" after a rover call when logging it in a contest. I have never done that. If the grid changes, Writelog takes it. Is there any necessity or rule about this? Chuck W5PR __________
Hi Chuck, *"3.5.4. *Rovers MUST sign "rover" on Phone and /R on CW and digital modes after their call sign." http://www.arrl.org/june-vhf It should also be logged that way. The one thing I have been
I don't see where this says I have to log it. If you logged what they send on SSB, it would be "/Rover" I wish there were some clarification in the rules. I hate for all of the rovers to be in Russia
Just log them as /R, regardless of mode. _______________________________________________ VHFcontesting mailing list VHFcontesting@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/vhfcontes

You also log "DoubleU" "Three" "Dee" Haych" "Jay".... :-) But, look at all the grid multipliers there'd be! HI!HI! 73 Jonesy W3DHJ/R http://W3DHJ.net/vhfrover_plans.html -- Marvin L Jones | W3DHJ | W
Chuck - There is a subtle point with not so subtle consequences here. KK6MC/r and KK6MC are not the same call and you could, in principle, have a busted QSO if you log KK6MC/r as KK6MC. As a rover, K
Ok, the ability to submit two logs convinced me of a purpose for logging the "/R". Thanks for pointing this out James. Chuck W5PR Sent from my iPhone _______________________________________________ V
Another reason, if you are using a logging program, is that KK6MC/r is not likely to get flagged as a dupe when I move to a new grid. - Duffey KK6MC _______________________________________________ VH

All Rovers are logged as /R in the software regardless SSB or CW or WSJT etc... Simple... 73s de Tim - K7XC - EM12xu (Soon to be back home in Nevada again!!!!) Everything should be made as simple as
I use call/grid, which creates a unique call for the station as it changes grids. Eg w4iy/fn01. W4iy/fn02. For the vhf contest mode doesn't matter, but we still log the mode. -- Sent from my Android

Anyone operating in Russia with a visitor's license would be using "RA/callsign", not "/R". So, no need to be nervous about that. K7CW From: Jonesy W3DHJ via VHFcontesting <vhfcontesting@contesting.c
A lot of opinions, but no clarification in the rules. Yes, rovers have to sign "/R" so everyone will know they are not dupes, but nothing says they have to be logged as "/R" The only remote use would
AND, this rule seems to indicate you don't need the "/R" as long as it is from a different grid. *7.2. *Stations may be worked for credit only once per band from any given grid square, regardless of

You seem determined to nit-pick the details in order to justify _NOT_ logging with precision and elegance. Go ahead and do it "your way". The rover will get the log credit, and there's a chance that
Chuck - In the General Rules for all ARRL Contests: 3.2. All callsigns and exchange information must be sent, received, acknowledged and logged correctly by each station for a complete QSO." If you d
Just because I am a rover doesn't change my call. I have to log the call is all the rule says. That's what I will do. Interesting conversation though. Chuck W5PR Sent from my iPad ___________________
The rule says that you have to log the call that is sent. KK6MC/r is not the same as KK6MC. Adding /r does change your call for contesting purposes. That is the whole point of adding the /r. Can you
No, operating as a Rover doesn't change your call, but it does change your status as a station. So that when you work the same station twice on the same band, you had better be in a different grid. O
I can tell you (as the person who checks the logs) please do not log rovers like this it is a mess in the logs. If your logging program will not let you log /r get one that does. Or fix them after th
