This brings me back to a procedural question of how does any of this become actionable? This Pack-roving re-hash was in response to the announcement that the ARRL Board approved the creation of a VHF

Bob, (and all) Your statement (as quoted below my comments) cant be any further from the truth if you tried... I started the "Pack Rover" thread due to comments made online by fellow Rovers who were

<snip> Tim, I stand corrected. I went back to the contesting.com archives and I agree that your pack rover email was really in response to another rover's email, not the VUAC announcement. It came 24

Well, if enough refuse to submit logs or even participate in contests that accept such "grid circling" behaviour, the rules will change. I'd hate to see it come to that, but it's always an option. So

Hopefully, it won't come to that. After doing more thinking about this - I think I can articulate what it is about grid circling that really makes it incompatible with the rest of the contest. For t

I have been monitoring these discussions with great interest. I wasn't really interested in getting involved until I saw this post. Guys, this is not an option. We need to be sending more logs in for

NO IT DEPENDS ALOT ON ANTENNA HEIGHT AND THE TYPE OF ANTENNAS YOU ARE RUNNING. THERE ARE STATIONS SEVERAL MILES AWAY FROM ME THAT HEAR ALOT OF THINGS I CAN'T BECAUSE THEY HAVE BETTER ANTENNA SYSTEMS.

Sorry, but I don't see the grid circlers as being bad guys. To keep them and "regular" rovers happy, you create a set of rules that allows and recognizes both. Paul, K7CW http://lists.contesting.com/

I believe Tree has outlined one of the major "ethical" concerns with "Pack - caravan grid circling rovers" - that it creates a "totally artifcical situation" in the contest. There is no "Radio contes

I think the main issue with this type of operation, which clearly is outside of the "intent" of the contest, is that the whole thing could be faked quite easily. They could claim they did all of that
