Yes, the program should never let you enter new data in the exchange window once it has been completed unless you put it in the log or it warns you. It is very easy to lose a QSO.

I am confused. Are you trying to use the sound card to generate (AFSK) and if so be sure that you have LSB is RTTY and it should work. If you are trying to use FSK then you do not use the sound card
